Larry Taylor Blog ~ March 4, 2014

Oh, how I long for the sun again, as in the photo [above] when the sun was going down in the evening and was very bright……..!

This ICE STORM #10 really hammered me with about an inch of ice and then sleet on top, with snow on top of that, last Sunday. Monday morning about 10am was 11F degrees and the high was 20F. And today, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 will probably stay frozen all day thru tonight. This stuff just won’t melt!

I’m having problems with phones, etc. which is probably due to ice on the towers in this area. Anyway, looking for a sunny day down the road……………………………………………..

I feel so bad for the Ukrainian people who just want freedom! (Don’t we all these days?!) The BEAR has been roused out of hibernation and is not to be messed with. Our “fearless leaders” just don’t get it!
It was six degrees here last night. It will be 11 degrees tonight. “Normal” for these parts at this point should be 45 degrees. We had rain, and ice, topped off with at least 8 inches of snow, which is not melting. We still had snow from before. Parking lots have seven and eight foot piles of snow, from plowing. Who knows how long they will take to melt? We are used to this in these parts, but it’s really getting old at this point. I pity anyone who needs a snow shovel, salt, fire starter for wood stoves, or any winter items. The stores are featuring Spring items. The weather Channel predicts most of the USA will remain cooler than normal March – May. Not great for crops. Our state has been decimated by potholes. It will cost a fortune to repair all of them. Like Larry, I also long for the warm sun on my face, birds singing, flowers coming up, walking our dogs in the park………………..I’m sure there are a million “amen’s” out there for this. LOL!
Thanks for the updates, Larry! We hang in the balance, having been judged and found wanting, awaiting the fragile branch we hold tightly to, to crack, sending us on a steep fall down the cliff where past civilizations who, like us, forgot the Almighty. Brace yourselves for the loud thud as we hit the ground. It will NOT be a soft landing, my friends.

Dolores ~~~~ Yes, indeed, incredible dangerous times, as our leaders, laugh, dance,
party & go on TV shows with entertainment…! Hope you are enjoying that old, little
      book on Anton Johnason……!

      • Dolores says:

Yes, I am very much enjoying the Anton Johanson book. We need a few Anton Johanson’s today, but as you noted, not only our leaders, but just about everyone else, is in a “party hearty mindset! Amazing!!!

  2. Mariel says:

I fear our landing here in the SW will be equally hard, Dolores. We had two days of rain, and now back to drought. You would envy us our lovely weather, but think of what our local newspaper said, that authorities predict fire season will start by the end of this month. Usually it is May and June. Last year smoke impacted me from the East, West, North, and South, in fires and more fires in all of those places, even though the fire itself did not come too close here. I had to leave.
I don’t know where I will go this year, as California may also be burning. I have invitations to stay with two online friends, one in Utah (which may be burning too) and one in Wisconsin. I have not minded traveling up to now, and even spending heaps of money, because there was no alternative, but now I am getting sick of being repeatedly uprooted. I would stay in CA if it were not for the predictions of earthquakes there, not to speak of fire and smoke.
So do not envy those who will see more sun than we want to. We’re all going down equally?

    • Dolores says:

So sorry that you have to endure fire danger, Mariel. I can’t imagine how hard breathing in smoke would be, not to mention the fear of one’s home catching fire. No wonder many leave. I have a high respect for fire and drought, as back in a late summer drought in 2010, our home caught fire from a small spark, which came from our old riding lawn mower. We were in the house, when unbeknownst to us, parched grass near the house caught fire. what the fire didn’t destroy, smoke and water did. Thankfully, we escaped, and a fireman rescued our dogs. Our insurance company paid over $350,000.00. Please forgive me for dreaming of sun on my face. Snow and ice, while a nuisance, at least doesn’t clog the lungs and burn homes to the ground. Take care, and may God be with you!

Thanks Larry! It is the only sunshine in my day to see your blog. I am noticing, not only here, that we are all starting to sound like Shakelton’s diary!……on the verge of Donner party…..no, forget I said that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
When I got your from the edge alert that said “No earthquake postings” my first thought was, “WOW, after constant rumbles the earth has gone still????” Funny that would make me feel uneasy! Sorry it is such a hassle for you to post but glad that is all it is……would be thinking about “silence for about the space of half an hour!”
    Stay warm friends!
